Syarief Basir has more than 25 years experience working in public accounting firms. His career as an auditor and management consultant began when he worked as an auditor at the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency – BPKP in 1984, then in KAP Darmawan and Partners (Touche Ross International), and KAP Amir Abadi Jusuf (RSM Internasional). Syarief Basir has also been a management consultant at Michigan Small Business Development Center, Mt Pleasant, Michigan, USA and is still active as an advocate at the SBR Partner Law Office.

Syarief Basir is active in professional accounting organizations, including as a member of the Disciplinary and Investigation Committee of the Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (2017 up to now), Deputy Chair of the IAPI-Public Accountants Professional Standards Board (2003-2008),  member of the Indonesia-IAI Accountants Association Ethics Committee (2007-2012). In addition to the accountant organization, he is also a member of the Indonesian Tax Consultant Association-IKPI, the Indonesian Advocates Association – PERADI and the Indonesian Professional Appraiser Society – MAPPI.

Syarief Basir completed his MBA program from Central Michigan University, USA, Masters in Management from PPM College of Management, Jakarta, and Masters in Law from the “Veteran” National Development University, Jakarta. Accountant education was completed at the State College of Accountancy – STAN, Jakarta and Bachelor of Laws at the “Veteran” National Development University, Jakarta.
